Silence Your Vibrating Trunk
Your rattling trunk can be a real distraction, especially if you’ve added subwoofers. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to dampen the vibration and noise of the trunk, such as simply adding flush type hole plugs to spots where there’s unnecessary friction.
There may be a lot of metal against metal movement where the license plate sits against your vehicle. Remove the screws and secure a dampening pad behind the plate. Replace the screws and move on.
Next, look inside the trunk for any parts that rattle against each other; wrap these up in cloth or sponge rubber. Continue working through the trunk, looking for other noisy components, as well as spots where an automotive plug or nylon hole plug could reduce the racket of moving parts.
